2021 (#60) אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה :

t is necessary to give an immediate response to a
child. Children need to know that we are their
friends, that they can depend on us for the things they
desire, that we can support them in the things that
they have, but also in the things that they dream
about, that they desire.

The peace, freedom and blessedness of all souls consist in their abiding in God’s will. Towards this union with God for which it is created the soul strives perpetually. (Meister Eckhart)

Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Let man then learn revelation of all nature and all thought to his heart; this; namely; that the highest dwells with him; that the sources of nature are in his own mind, if the sentiment of duty is there.

2021 (#59) אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה :

Every function in the child’s cultural development appears twice: first, on the social level, and later, on the individual level; first, between people…, and then within the child. This applies equally to voluntary attention, to logical memory, and to the formation of concepts. All the higher [mental] functions originate as actual relations between human individuals.

Vygotsky

The
correlation of many and one, of becoming and being forms a game.
Affirming becoming and affirming the being of becoming are the two
moments of a game which are compounded with a third term, the
player, the artist or the child.

Deleuze

We may say that we become ourselves through others and that this rule applies not only to the personality as a whole, but also to the history of every individual function.

Vygotsky

You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.

Isaiah 55:12

Let the children come to me, don’t stop them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

The ability to enjoy relationships and work together
is very important. Children need to enjoy being in
school, they need to love their school and the interactions that take place there. Their expectations of
these interactions is critical.

Malaguzzi

Storytelling performs the dual cultural functions of making the strange familiar and ourselves private and distinctive. If pupils are encouraged to think about the different outcomes that could have resulted from a set of circumstances, they are demonstrating useability of knowledge about a subject. Rather than just retaining knowledge and facts, they go beyond them to use their imaginations to think about other outcomes, as they don’t need the completion of a logical argument to understand a story. This helps them to think about facing the future, and it stimulates the teacher too.

6 And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” 7 So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. 8 God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day. — Genesis

The supreme good is like water,
which nourishes all things without trying to.
It is content with the low places that people disdain.
Thus it is like the Tao.

— Tao Te Ching

The Spirit and the Bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say,
Come. And let him that is a-thirst, come. And whosoever will, let
him take the water of life freely.

— Revelation

For me, the discussion would begin to get interesting when,  beyond the vested confusion of this doxa, one gets to a more serious, more essential question. For example, if throughout all these different strategies the “subject”, without  having been “liquidated”, has been re-interpreted, displaced, decentered, re-inscribed, then firstly: what becomes of those problematics which seemed to presuppose a classical determination of the subject (objectivity, be it scientific or other, ethical, legal, political etc.), and secondly: who or what “answers” to the question “who”?

a wind from God sweeping over the water

— Genesis

The wind blows where it wants to, and you hear its sound, but you don’t know where it comes from or where it’s going. That’s how it is with everyone who has been born from the Spirit.

The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.

John 3:8

The Lord formed me from the beginning, before he created any-
thing else. …I was there when he set the clouds above, when he
established springs deep in the earth. …And when he marked off the
earth’s foundations, I was the architect at his side. I was his constant
delight, rejoicing always in his presence.

— Genesis

The point is right away to go beyond, in one fell swoop, the first glance and thus to see there where this glance is blind, to open one’s eyes wide there where one does not see what one sees. One must see, at first sight, what does not let itself be seen. And this is invisibility itself For what first sight misses is the invisible. The flaw, the error of first sight is to see, and not to notice the invisible. (

we will discover a great deal about learning and relationship strategies shared with joy between adults and children and about the
creative play of inventing words and rhymes by children. We would learn
about the power of literacy developing in the interaction of adults with
children and of children with children in play.

Gandini

It is not a matter here of stating a new view of language. What is important is learning to live in the speaking of language. To do so, we need to examine constantly whether and to what extent we are capable of what genuinely belongs to responding: anticipation in reserve. For: Man speaks only as he responds to language. Language speaks. Its speaking speaks for us in what has been spoken

Heidegger

11 You make me know the path of life;

Tehillim 16:7-11

Observation, very general and wide-spread, has
shown that small children are endowed with a special
psychic nature. This shows us a new way of imparting
education ! A different form which concerns humanity
itself and which has never been taken into consideration.
The real constructive energy, alive and dynamic, of
children, remained unknown for thousands of years.

Montessori

I am constrained every moment to acknowledge a higher origin for events than the will I call my own.

When I watch that flowing river which, out of regions I see not, pours for a season its streams into me, I see that I am a pensioner; not a cause but a surprised spectator of this ethereal water; that I desire and look up and put myself in the attitude of reception, but from some alien energy the visions come.

… perfect in every hour … the act of seeing and the thing seen, the seer and the spectacle, the subject and the object, are one.

That is why I said, ‘Anyone the Father does not help to come to me cannot come.’
That is the reason I said, ·‘If the Father does not bring a person to me, that one cannot come.’
That is why I told you that people cannot come to me unless the Father provides the way.
This is the very reason I told you that no people can come to me unless the Father makes it possible for them to do so.
This is why I have been telling you that no one comes to Me without the Father’s blessing and guidance.

John 6:64-65

I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

It’s a constant value for the children to know that the
adult is there, attentive and helpful, a guide for the
child. Perhaps this way of working with the child
will build a different understanding of our role than
we have had before. Clarifying the meaning of our
presence and our being with children is something
that is vital for the child. When the child sees that the
adult is there, totally involved with the child, the
child doesn’t forget. This is something that’s right for
us and it’s right for the children.

Malaguzzi

13 I am putting my rainbow in the cloud — it will be there as a sign of the covenant between myself and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth, and the rainbow is seen in the cloud;

Bereshit 9:13-14

By the same fire, vital, consecrating, celestial, which burns until it shall dissolve all things into the waves and surges of an ocean light, we see and know each other and what spirit each is of.(

Emerson

There are many things that are part of a child’s life
just as they are part of an adult’s life. The desire to
do something for someone, for instance. Every adult
has a need to feel that we are seen/observed by
others. (Observing others is also important.) This is
just as true for children as for adults. Therefore, it’s
possible to observe, to receive a lot of pleasure and
satisfaction from observing in many different ways.
Malaguzzi

16 When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it.” 17 He was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven.”

Bereshit 28:16-17

‘Shining, yet hidden, Spirit lives in the cavern. Everything that sways, breathes, opens, closes, lives in Spirit; beyond learning, beyond everything, better than anything; living, unliving. ‘It is the undying blazing Spirit, that seed of all seeds, wherein lay hidden the world and all its creatures. It is life, speech, mind, reality, immortality. It is there to be struck. Strike it, my son!

Mundaka Upanishad Book 2

When the child is observed, the child is happy — it’s
almost an honor that he is observed by an adult. On
the other hand, a good teacher who knows how to
observe feels good about himself because that person
knows that he is able to take something from the
situation, transform it, and understand it in a new
way.

Malaguzzi

That which you need comes from yourself, namely the meaning of the event. The meaning of events is not their particular meaning. This meaning exists in learned books. Events have no meaning.
The meaning of events is the way of salvation that you create. The meaning
of events comes from the pOSSibility oflife in this world that you create. It is
the mastery of this world and the assertion of your soul in this world.
This meaning of events is the supreme meaning, that is not in events,
and not in the soul, but is the God standing between events and the soul, the
mediator of life, the way, the bridge and the going across.

Jung
